Medical Marijuana gun ownership

I was having a few beverages with some friends and we got to talking about stuff and an issue came up that we didn't know the answer to ... One of the guys has numerous physical issues that are not crippling but somewhat restrictive, back, hips, neck, etc ... He has tried private versions that seemed to help his discomfort ... And mentioned getting a medical marijuana card ... He was also talking about buying a firearm for home security, and the subject came up that if you have medical pot card you are somehow disqualified from legally buying or owning a firearm ... Anybody know anything yes or no about that issue?

A buddy of mine had back and hip issues and tried a medical card for relief. He also wanted a firearm for home, and we looked into it—rules can be tricky, some states have restrictions if you’re a user. For downtime, he’d chill with bongs for a bit, and it helped him relax without bothering his joints.
